Wedding Party

Meet our friends and family who are accompanying us on the walk down the aisle!

Jonathan "JT" Tiongco

Officiant

Hello, I’m Dr. Jonathan Tiongco! Shazia and I met in medical school on the charming island nation of Grenada. At school we began studying together everyday. Our friendship blossomed over many nights of making music, eating food, and sharing our life stories. Our bond was deepened by our shared identity as Filipinos. Eventually, Shazia introduced me to Sam (via FaceTime). Sam impressed me with her kindness and her quickness to smile. She simply radiates warmth. I’m so lucky to be part of their lives because they are both individually amazing humans and I know that they will share a lifetime of happiness. I am so excited for the wedding! Shazia and Sam are huge romantics so naturally the wedding ceremony will be deeply moving and I’m honored to be part of it. I love you Sam and Shazia!

Grace Daniels

Groomswoman

Hi, I’m Grace!   I met Sam and Shazia for the first time at a study session for one of Sam and I’s Anesthesia classes.  The two have such a wholesome and doting relationship; anyone can see that from just a short interaction with them.  Sam and I immediately became close friends and have been tackling school together one day (and margarita) at a time.  I am so excited to be a part of their special day immersed in the culture and loving atmosphere to celebrate what they have been looking forward to for years!

Lubna Ali

Groomswoman

Hi! My name is Lubna. I am currently a resident pursuing a career in interventional radiology. Shazia and I lived together in Grenada during medical school. We spent many late nights talking in the library instead of studying. It was the best. I met Sam when she came to visit Shazia and every time Sam visited, our whole dorm celebrated. Even though I had only just met her we had so much in common that Sam was like a little piece of home. I have such love for both of them that one time (while I was making samosas) I caught the two of them dancing in the rain on our balcony through our kitchen window and started crying. They saw me and we all ended up laughing together hysterically. I can't wait for this wedding and the union of these two wonderful, beautiful women.

Samantha Boustani

Bridesmaid

Hiiii! I am Sam. Sam I am. I like to think of myself as the original Sam in Shazi's life hehe. In all seriousness though, Shazi and I met in 2011 on our first day of the Medical Laboratory Science program at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and we have been bestest pals ever since. Currently, I'm a second year Internal Medicine resident and I love to play volleyball. Fun Fact: I get very competitive with volleyball, bowling and air hockey. Come at me! I can't wait to watch one of my best friends marry the love of her life. It has been a long time coming and I'm so happy I get to be a part of it.

Amna Khan

Bridesmaid

Hi! My name is Amna and I have known Shazi my entire life. I guess that is what happens when you are sisters. I met Sam after Shazi asked me to fly from St. Maarten to meet her. They have been through ups and downs but I’ve watched their relationship grow over the years and become stronger than ever. Not only do they compliment each other but they bring out the best in each other. They deserve all the happiness in the world and I couldn’t be more excited for them to spend the rest of their lives together. Sam and Shazi I love you guys both. Congratulations!

For all the days along the way
