Shazia and Sam met in 2013 when Shazia was doing her Clinical Chemistry rotation at New York Presbyterian Hospital's Columbia campus. From the beginning, you could say the two had chemistry. Sam was Shazia's preceptor in the Chemistry Department and quickly realized Shazia was unlike other students. She asked more questions than they did. In fact, she asked too many questions for 7:00 in the morning- every morning. So what was Sam to do about this incessant student? She would get coffee and take Shazia with her. Conversations about science, medicine and life endlessly flowed. A beautiful friendship was formed. Fast forward 8 years and the two had grown immensely. Through shared heartaches and triumphs, every year had only brought them closer together. As individuals pursuing higher educations in the fields of anesthesia and pathology, and as partners in life with unified dreams and goals, the two knew in their hearts their chemistry would last forever.
