FAQs

If you have any questions other than what we've listed, feel free to reach out via email: samanthaandniranjan@gmail.com
Question

Are COVID vaccinations required to attend?

Answer

Yes, to ensure a safe celebration we are asking that all eligible guests be fully vaccinated in order to attend. We also ask that you test before traveling to Austin. If you have any questions or concerns please email us at: samanthaandniranjan@gmail.com

Question

Can I bring a guest?

Answer

If your invitation says “and Guest,” then yes, if not, we would prefer if it was just you. We have a strict guest list to stay on budget. Our wedding is strictly RSVP only. We will only able to accommodate the specific names listed on your invitation and will only have table settings for these specific people.

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

We love your kids—we really do. But to allow all guests to relax and enjoy themselves, we have chosen to make our special day adults only (minus a few close under-18 family members). We thank you for your understanding!

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Cocktail Attire Indian attire is encouraged in the morning. Indian or Western Cocktail Attire (dress, dressy jumpsuit, or suit) is appropriate in the evening. If you're interested in renting Indian clothing you can check out https://riyacollective.com/! UTSAV is a good option for shopping online: we recommend ordering well in advance (think 2 months to be safe) since it's shipped from India. Also: for garments that require your specific measurements - go big and then get it altered to fit, since sometimes the sizing can be a little off. Big cities also often have Indian clothing stores if you want to shop in person!

Question

What are the different parts of Indian attire?

Answer

For women, a sari (traditional South Indian attire - 5-9 meters of fabric draped around a petticoat and blouse - requires some knowledge of wrapping yourself - or you can get a ready-to-wear, which does not require wrapping knowledge; more restricting movement-wise), salwar suit (also called anarkhali, kurta, pyjama, Punjabi; this is a long tunic-like top with pants. The styles and materials vary, by far the most comfy option), or a lehenga (also called ghagra choli or chaniya choli - a short top/blouse, a long skirt and a scarf that wraps around you). Unless you know how to wrap a sari, we recommend going with a lehenga or salwar/kurta! Men’s attire is normally a long-sleeved tunic and pants, often called kurta or sherwani. Traditionally these are accompanied by loose fitting pants, but you can also just wear slacks. Most of these websites are going to have categories for "weddings" or "party wear" - please know whatever you wear, we appreciate you just as you are, so please know anything you feel comfortable in (within our dress code) is what we love best!

Question

What will the weather be like this time of year?

Answer

Texas is a wild card: it could be in the 60s or the 90s (we're hoping it's pleasant), but we don't really get a "fall" in Texas, so please check the weather before traveling and pack accordingly.

Question

Do you have any hotel recommendations?

Answer

We have two room blocks for guests and information can be found in the travel section. A music festival, Austin City Limits, is the same weekend as our wedding, so rates are a bit more expensive than normal. We recommend booking early and looking at other options such as AirBNB or VRBO to find something in your price range!

Question

Where should guests park?

Answer

Springdale Station has parking available onsite but we recommend taking a rideshare (uber or lyft) to get to the venue so you can enjoy the night!

Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

Please RSVP by August 20th!

Question

Can I bring a gift to the wedding?

Answer

We kindly ask that guests refrain from bringing boxed gifts. Gifts can be purchased from our registry. Cards and cash gifts are welcome.
