Home to Scottish’s Crown Jewels
The Royal Mile connects Edinburgh Castle to Holyrood Palace. It contains a variety of shops, restaurants, public houses, and visitor attractions. Even though it says a mile, it’s a Scottish mile which is 1.11 miles!

With its unusual shape and collection of quirky shops, its often said to be the idea behind Diagon Alley in the Harry Potter series.
The Royals reside here once a week during the summer.
Arthur's Seat is the highest point of a group of hills known as the Salisbury Crags (formed from the remains of an extinct volcano which last erupted 350 million years ago), that make up Holyrood Park. Stone and flint tools found here reveal human activity as far back as 5000 BC. The view from the summit is well worth the walk. You can hike from Holyrood to the summit in around 45 minutes.
Calton Hill, famous views of Edinburgh, which features in several historic paintings and engravings of the city, as well as its fine collection of monuments. The most famous monument is the National Monument which was designed as a replica of the Parthenon in Athens.
