The story of Sam and Gil began with a simple meme. On a Facebook page with tens of thousands of members, somehow Sam and Gil's humor caught each other's eyes. A funny meme on a post lead to lengthy messages back and forth. Sam was taken back by how open and funny Gil was. The reality of not being in the same state was challenging but once Sam posted the "windows down carwash" video, Gil was hooked. From there they met in person, on January 28, 2021. Gil drove to the wrong apartment complex and suffered a mini "cat-fish heart attack". Luckily Sam was able to navigate him to the correct location and they were finally face to face with what felt like a dream for months. What was supposed to be a weekend visit turned into a week as Sam was heartbroken to see him leave so soon, and asked if he could stay longer. Luckily, Gil was prepared and had brought his work laptop with him. Like most instances, they were already on the same page. The two traveled thousands of miles up and down the coast to be with each other as much as possible. The sentence that brought the two to where they are today was from Gil. "It's never too early to talk about it, if it's on your mind". August 10, 2021 the words "I love you" were spoken and now will be immortalized as their wedding day. In December of 2021 Gil said goodbye to his friends and family in Florida as Sam bid Beaufort farewell and the two moved to Charleston to start their new life together with their two Dachshunds, Lucy and Chester.
