Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Our wedding will be formal attire. We'll be indoors, so no need to worry about the weather!

Question

What can I expect when I arrive?

Answer

At 4pm, there will be two simultaneous opportunities to celebrate: a tisch and a kabalat panim. The tisch will be a celebration with Eitan featuring singing Hebrew songs and some drinks. The kabalat panim will look much like a typical cocktail hour, with light eats and conversation. We invite you to join whichever interests you or to move between both! After the conclusion of these events, guests attending the tisch will sing “Od Yishama” and dance with Eitan over to the lobby. There, the ketubah (Jewish marriage contract) will be completed and signed by two witnesses. The bedeken (veiling of the bride) will follow, and afterward we will move into the sanctuary for the official ceremony.

Question

What can I expect at the reception?

Answer

After the bride and groom enter the reception, we will join together in simcha dancing/the hora. Following dancing, In order to fulfill the mitzvah of “m’sameach chatan v’kallah” (bringing joy to the groom and bride), guests will engage in jestful activities including funny dances, wearing silly outfits, or using props to make jokes. This will often include inside jokes from friends and family from throughout the life of the couple. The couple has assigned some friends and family to help “lead” this shtick and will be preparing some props-- get excited! Following the shtick, we’ll enjoy a meal together and dance the rest of the night away. Before the night ends, we’ll join together to recite Birkat HaMazon (the Grace after Meals) including the Sheva Brachot, the seven blessings for the bride and groom.
