We make sure to stop here each and every time we visit our families. Our personal favorite is "The Milwaukeean" loaded bloody mary from Lutz aka the West Allis Cheese and Sausage Shop inside the market. You can get the whole bloody mary experience here with a brat slider and beer chaser!
We have gone here several times and love to see the iconic exhibitions and architecture. The Calatrava is our favorite part-designed by the Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. The Burke Brise Soleil is a moveable sunscreen with a 200+ wingspand that unfolds twice daily. It is simply beautiful and elegant. Make sure to stop by the lakeside cafe (Fourth Wave) for an amaretto sour.
It's always hard for us to choose our favorite brew spots, but if we had to, these would be at the top of our list. I'm sure you know we are ~huge~ beer drinkers and we have the city of Milwaukee and it's endless options to thank for this trait! Lakefront Brewery Third Space Brewing Historic Pabst Brewery -- the tours here are also very fun!
It's no secrete that we are booze fiends--you could say drinking cocktails with good company is one of our favorite past times. Make sure to check out the spots if you must tickle your whistle: Central Standard: Definitely more whiskey and brandy forward, but has other options that are very delicious. We would for sure be regulars if we still lived in the area! Wicked Hop: The best bloody mary mix, hands down! Convenient location next to a couple downtown stores as well as the public market! The Palapa at St. Paul Fish Company: Tiki style outdoor seating area at the bar of St. Paul's is one of our favorites. Rain, shine, winter, or summer, our tradition is to always grab their pina colada! At Random: takes you back in time with retro cocktails such as the grasshopper and pink Cadillacs! Blu: one of the best views in the city, located at Pfister Hotel, great service, even better drinks! Camp Bar: This is truly unique! Drink with urban Northwoods camping feel in the Historic Third Ward
A list of our go to spots when we're hungry! Collectivo: locally brewed coffee, great breakfast and lunch spot Benelux: in the heart of the historic third ward, European twist, great beer to go along with delicious brunch food too Birch: farm to table, Named The New York Times' Top 50 Restaurants in 2023, monthly changing menu Harbour House: upscale dining, great views of Lake Michigan, amazing service
