Our Story

Sam and Chase’s story goes back to kindergarten... in fact, Chase wasn’t a fan of Sam because she was the only girl (or boy) who could outrun him on the playground. Little did they know what the future had in store. Fast forward to high school, and the two became close friends. Their friendship grew among a tight-knit group of people who are still part of their lives today and who witnessed their journey from the very beginning. Both Sam and Chase were standout athletes, earning them the senior superlative title of "Most Athletic". As their friendship deepened, it blossomed into something more. In the summer of 2015, Chase took Sam on their first date to Fogo de Chão in Philadelphia, taught her how to drive stick (bold move), and the two spent nearly every summer day together. It was a whirlwind romance, but short-lived as Sam left for her first semester at Penn State. Over the next four years, Sam and Chase remained close friends. When Sam came home for the summer, she worked with Chase at Santa Fe Mexican Grill on Main Street in Newark. She’d hang out with him and old and new friends at his college house, and no matter the time apart, they always picked up right where they left off. Then, in the summer of 2019, Sam graduated from Penn State, and Chase graduated from the University of Delaware. Sam returned home for a gap year before grad school, and it didn’t take long for Chase to make his move and for Sam to realize what was in front of her all along. By October of that year, they became a couple. In 2020, the pandemic threw a curveball, and Sam and Chase decided to take a leap of faith. They moved to Philadelphia with two close friends, where Sam began grad school at Temple, and soon after, Chase started his career at Comcast. Those years in Philly became the heart of their relationship, with their bond growing stronger in the City of Brotherly Love. The couple’s first apartment was in Washington Square, just the two of them. Their days were filled with dinners and drinks around Center City, taking the SEPTA subway to Philly sports games (Go Birds!), grabbing bagels and coffee on lazy Sunday mornings, and even storming Broad Street (a few times) during their four unforgettable years in Philly. Philly was a whirlwind of love, laughter, and memories and will always have a special place in their hearts. So special that on December 7th, 2024, Chase proposed to Sam under the iconic LOVE sign. It was a complete surprise, especially when their family popped out moments later to celebrate. They then headed to a local bar where their friends were waiting to toast to their next chapter. While Sam and Chase have had countless adventures together already, one place that’s always felt like home is Maine. Sam’s family has spent summers on the lake in Liberty, Maine, since 1977. In the summer of 2020, Sam introduced Chase to her family's lake cabin appropriately named, "Summerscape". That summer was the first of many they filled with cherished memories and traditions like driving to Bar Harbor and Camden with "Mt. Joy" blasting, picking blueberries on the lake’s island, and playing Rummy 500 by the fire on a chilly New England night. Chase fell in love with Maine immediately, lucky for him, Sam and Summerscape are a package deal. Sam and Chase are beyond excited to invite you all to Bar Harbor, Maine, to begin this next chapter as husband and wife. They feel incredibly lucky to celebrate their love in a place that’s so close to their hearts, surrounded by family and friends. They hope you’ll fall in love with coastal Maine just as they have.
