Just a 17-minute drive away from The Secret Garden, Cultus Lake is a popular summer destination for those here in the Lower Mainland. This is a photo of us on one of their rental pedal boats, but you can rent all kinds of lake gear here, from canoes, kayaks, and paddle boards, to motorboats and jet skis. There are also lots of great hikes in the area, as well as Cultus Lake Waterpark and Cultus Adventure Park.
Banter Ice Cream is a must, especially in the warmer months. Samantha's favourite flavours are the lemon curd (shockingly good) and marble malt cookie dough, whereas Caleb loves the vegan candied hazelnut brittle (a seasonal flavour). We normally stop by their Abbotsford location, but there's one in Chilliwack as well (either location may be closer to you, depending on where you're staying). HIGHLY recommend!
Downtown Abbotsford has a lot of cute boutique shops and cafes that you can explore! One of our favourite things to do downtown is painting pottery at The Clay Cottage. :)
This lesser-known gem of a walk here in Abbotsford is also a great spot for birding (you may even see a muskrat or beaver!) or a quiet nature walk. It's our favourite spot for practicing our wildlife photography. :) You could also consider going for a walk through Mill Lake (central Abbotsford) to see the lily pads in bloom!
In case you didn't know, this is where we got engaged! We love walking here, especially in the Fall/Winter when it's a bit quieter.
While not super close to Abbotsford, we figure some of you lovely people may want to venture over to Vancouver while you’re on the west coast. If you do, we highly recommend catching the sunset at Lighthouse Park in West Vancouver.
For those of you soccer fans, you may want to travel to the area a little early to catch the final World Series match in Vancouver, on Thursday, July 2, 2026 or Tuesday, July 7, 2026.
