How We Met

12.3.2021

We met on a dating app called Bumble where the girl has to make the first move. Sam's opening line was a comment on how we were both wearing the same colored shirt, posing the same, and had a similar-looking dog in our photos (see our gallery). Finally, Mac had done his job of being a good wingman! Our first date lasted hours and made Sam late to meet her friend (sorry, Lindsay!). Our first kiss ended with Sam texting her friend that she had “got the kiss in the bag”, and the rest is history.

The Proposal

11.19.2022

After watching a couple get engaged in front of us the night before at an Ian Munsick concert, we were tired but had plans to go for a hike the next morning. It was one of the more awkward hikes we’ve been on because Austin was looking at his phone the entire time (which is VERY abnormal). Once we got to the top, he was then quite particular about where we stopped to enjoy the view and projected his voice to say “OH YOU WANT TO GO UP THERE!?”. It was then that Sam knew it was happening. We sat down on a rock with a great view of the city we live in, and Austin nearly fell over Mac to reach into his bag before pointing at the place we met, had our first kiss, first hike, etc. He then asks if this place has any meaning and proceeds to say that it will be the place he asks Sam to marry him. After screaming and crying, Laura (our officiant) popped out from nowhere with a camera and champagne to initiate our celebratory photo shoot.

What we do

We have three day weekends and take advantage of it

Austin works for a small town called Berthoud, CO where he is responsible for managing open spaces and a new terrain bike park. Sam is a veterinarian for cats and dogs. We love using our three-day weekends to camp, ski, paddleboard, explore new breweries and breakfast restaurants, hike, puzzle, build Legos, go to Church, and walk Mac. Our venue is sentimental to us because we spend a lot of time skiing in a nearby town, Breckenridge.
