We met in Freshers Week at Grey College in Durham in 2014. Conveniently for Sam, Rosie was studying the exact same subject as him, so she became very useful when it came to working out what class to get to and when. Luckily for Rosie, she wanted a buddy to go to lectures with. From classmates to bestmates and two months later, boyfriend & girlfriend. Fast forward 11 years, and we absolutely cannot wait to tie the knot in front of all those who have supported our wonderful journey together. In a location that is SO special to us.
We first visited Sitges in May 2017, when Sam was studying in Barcelona and Rosie was studying in Madrid. We got the train from Barcelona for a day trip, not really knowing what to expect. When we arrived we instantly fell in love with the quaint streets, the sleepy beach town vibe, and the charm of the old town. We got an ice cream and sat on the beach for most of the afternoon. It felt worlds apart from the busy city of Barcelona. While living in Madrid, Rosie worked for a Spanish wedding website on an internship. Often writing or translating articles about destination weddings across Europe, mostly in Spain. That's when the dreaming of our own big Spanish wedding first started... After we got engaged in September 2024, the discussions about where we would want to get married always came back to Sitges or Spain. It felt special that we had met doing a Spanish degree over 10 years beforehand. We visited Sitges again in November of that year, and despite a bit of rain, it seemed nothing had changed since the first time we came. Then we viewed and fell in love with Xalet del Nin, probably the best wedding venue in the area - not that we're biased! It's a historical villa about 15 minutes away from Sitges - we can't wait to have a big party with you there.
