Provincetown is a Portuguese fishing village turned artist colony. You will see galleries throughout town, but most line commercial street on the "East End" between Standish and Bangs street. This is also the location of the Provincetown Art Association and Museum (PAAM). All the shops and galleries are open to the public. We recommend taking a stroll through this part of town and checking out the museum if you have time.
West of Franklin Street, Provincetown becomes quieter and more residential. Here there are a few nicer restaurants and bakeries, and this is where the famous "Flag House" is located (77A Commercial Street). Beautifully designed gardens and interesting homes provide the backdrop for a quiet nice stroll or bike ride down this segment of Commercial Street. If you are staying in this area or want to check it, out we recommend The Red Inn (great oyster happy hour daily from 2-4:30), Sal's Place, or Joon Bar for dinner and drinks. Relish or Pop + Dutch is a great spot for Sandwiches.
Our favorite coffee shop. Grab a coffee and sit on the back patio looking over the water or take a stroll through town
Top recommendation for a sit-down breakfast. Make a reservation ahead of time. Also tons of places throughout town to grab a pastry/breakfast sandwich etc.
Recommended spot for casual food/drinks with a big group. Popular seafood shack/eatery with a large beer garden in the back looking over the water. Great place for large groups to meet up for a casual
Recommended spot for Ptown swag (hats, shirts etc.)
The national seashore around Provincetown is truly beautiful and unique. If you have time, we highly recommend taking a bike ride along this trail. Scenic winding paths through dunes, forest, and marshes in the cape cod national seashore. There are a number of places throughout town to rent bikes if your hotel does not have them.
Guided off-road adventures through the dunes of the Cape Cod National Seashore. Pretty cool/feels like you are in the Sahara
The most popular beach in Provincetown, this bayside beach has placid waters ideal for children and a relaxing swimming experience--no undertow and water that is always warmer than at Race Point. Traditionally the right hand side of the beach is considered more family oriented, while the left is more gay-friendly.
Neither of us golf...but apparently a classic public links course on the water. Let us know how it is
