The dress code for this event is cocktail attire/semi-formal. Much of the event will be outdoors (weather permitting). The ceremony and cocktail hour are in open air, so we would recommend bringing warmer clothing in case the weather is on the cooler side. The bridal colors will be forest green.
Multiple shuttles will be coordinated from Jay Peak Resort and parking will also be provided at the venue. Transportation to the ceremony in the upper field will be provided and allowed up to 15 minutes before the ceremony begins. Beyond 15 minutes, we will close the access road up to the field.
The bridal party and immediate family members will be taking photos promptly following the ceremony. There is no expectation for the guests to await us at the cocktail barn, so please make your way down from the field following the ceremony and begin the festivities!
Please let us know as soon as you can and RSVP no when the time comes. You will be missed!
If you have any dietary restrictions, please let us know on the RSVP. We will try our best to have food and drinks for all.
If you are staying at Jay Peak, there will be shuttles running between the venue and the hotel before and after the ceremony. There is parking onsite, but try and utilize the shuttles as much as possible.
We have found that some of the best views of the foliage are in northern Vermont. You can't go wrong visiting Burke Mountain. By taking the auto road to the top of the mountain. There is a wonderful outlook about halfway up (where Sam proposed), that gives you a view of the Willoughby valley in the distance. At the top of the mountain, there is an open-to-the-public fire tower that gives views to the Victory side of the mountain. For $10/car, you can't beat the price. Lake Willoughby in Westmore, Vermont, is also a great place to view the foliage. Carved from the glaciers, the edges of the lake are shrouded by Mount Hor and Mount Pisgah. As one of the deepest lakes in New England, it is one of the coldest. Don't bring your swim trunks unless you are brave enough.
Boston to Jay is a wonderfully scenic drive that takes you through the windy roads of New Hampshire and into the Connecticut River Valley of Vermont. Take I93 all the way to the end, and join up to I91 in Saint Johnsbury (Sam's home town). Take I91 north to Orleans Vermont (exit 26), then take Route 5 North to Coventry. Turn Right onto 105 West and continue straight onto 100 South. At the Y in the road in Troy VT, you can continue straight, and turn onto Loop Road on the left to go to Windy River Farm, or turn right at the Y onto Route 101 North and go to Jay Resort. To get to Jay and the hotel, Take Route 101 North, then turn left onto Route 242 West.
