We went to high school together and officially met at our mutual friend's house in Newport, RI. We felt a connection in the first hours of meeting, but at that point timing wasn't on our side. Three years later I reached out to Brian through Facebook. I sent him an old picture of us and an awkward note with a reference to The Office. After two weeks of him ignoring me and me agonizing over the message I sent we reconnected and exchanged phone numbers. That initial spark had never left. A few weeks later, I left to study abroad in Italy and over those months our friendship grew. We had to get creative at times, but I wouldn't have had it any other way. We became best friends and that continues to be the foundation for our relationship. From the very beginning, we knew it was something special!
Nine years later and we are back in Newport where we first met. Over the years it has become a very special place to us. On our drive over for a weekend trip, we decided to stop at Brenton State Park along the water to look at the view. Both of our hearts were racing because we knew the moment was here. There were a few hiccups along the way. Brian could barely get his words out, I forgot to say yes, pretty much the normal things you would expect from two awkward people, but it was perfect for us. We turned around and both our families were there to celebrate with us. We couldn't stop smiling. It was the best day of our lives and we are so happy that we get to be together FOREVER! We look forward to celebrating with you!
