We're getting married!

We first met during the first semester of our freshman year at Marquette in Biology 101. During one of our biology discussion sections, Sam struck up a conversation with Amelia, but despite a few thoughtful exchanges and some casual small talk, nothing ever came of it. For the next seven months, our interaction never moved beyond the classroom. Then, seven months later, Amelia received a message on Instagram from Sam: “Hey, I think we were in bio discussion together. How are you?” Apparently, that was all it took to get things started. It was the height of the COVID lockdowns, and we were both back home with our families—Amelia in Illinois and Sam in Indiana. Despite the distance, we made the effort to meet up for a few early dates. Before long, we were officially a couple. Adjusting to life back at school while navigating a new relationship wasn’t easy—especially with COVID restrictions. Sam couldn’t visit Amelia’s dorm, but since he lived off-campus with his brother Max, Amelia was able to visit often. We soon became close with each other’s friends (special shoutout to Nik and Elizabeth—now a couple themselves!). Over the next three years, we balanced academics with adventure—studying hard as Sam began dental school and Amelia started physical therapy school, while also making time to explore Milwaukee and enjoy life with our friends. In our second year of dental and physical therapy school, we moved in together in Milwaukee. Just three months later, we made another big decision—we brought home our sweet bernedoodle, Rory. She’s brought so much joy into our lives, and most of our free time now is spent taking her on walks and discovering new corners of the city. We've now lived together for 3 years and recently made the move out of the city! Amelia began her career as a physical therapist in June of 2025, and Sam will graduate from dental school this May. Recently, we were introduced to the beautiful Lake Country area—just 30 minutes west of Milwaukee—thanks to Katie Behrend, who grew up there. We instantly fell in love with it. So much so, that we moved there this past fall! Sam is also launching his own dental practice, 262 Family Dental, in Oconomowoc—just 10 minutes from our wedding venue! We’re so excited to share this special place, and this exciting new chapter, with all of you. Each of you has played a role in our journey, and we can’t wait to celebrate our love and future together with the people who mean the most to us.
