We're getting married!

Alexa and Sam met in the summer of 2017, just before the start of their freshman and sophomore years at the University of Rochester. Sam found Alexa online while looking for new musicians to join his college jazz band, and once they started talking they never stopped. They texted for hours every day about their lives and nearly identical musical tastes so that by the time they arrived on campus they were already the best of friends. After six months of late night snack runs, jam sessions and mutual friend-zoning, Alexa and Sam finally admitted their feelings to each other and started their relationship. Seven and a half years later, it remains the best decision they have ever made. Their relationship has blossomed through high highs and low lows, including four degrees, the pandemic, a year of international long-distance, global travels, the adoption of their two beloved cats, Miso and Noodle, and, most recently, a move to New York City. All the while, Sam fell more and more in love with Alexa’s passion, thoughtfulness, and ability to match his goober energy, and Alexa with Sam’s intelligence, patience, and quiet-yet-witty (and delightfully weird) disposition. In October of 2023, Sam and Alexa returned to Rochester and spent a whole day together visiting their old stomping grounds: their favorite coffee shops and vintage stores, the dorms where they first fell in love, and finally Highland Park, where they found a big hill to eat Old Pueblo burritos and listen to music. Alexa remarked on what a romantic moment it was, and how perfect it would be if Sam were to propose right then and there (and how nervous she’d be if he did), seconds before Sam got on one knee and pulled out the engagement ring. It was a full-circle way to jumpstart the rest of their lives together, and they are beyond excited to celebrate their marriage at Olio surrounded by their family, friends, and lots of music!
