Our First Date

09/25/2017

It is somewhat uncertain when our first date truly was. We began calling our first outing together as the 'first date'. You see, we were coworkers and we each thought we were being friend zoned by the other. When Adam first asked Sam to go to a Bruins preseason game with him, she assumed this was yet another group activity and began asking around the office to see if others wanted to go, too. Luckily, outsiders looking in knew more of what was going on than we did and politely declined. We went to the game together and realized even more of how much we had in common from our love for Boston sports, similar taste in music, and appreciation for the movies. In fact, they learned of a few circumstances in life where they just almost crossed paths. We have tried each year to get back to The Garden to celebrate where it all started.

The Proposal

09/25/2020

Adam began the proposal planning process in July 2020. With help from Sam's Pinterest board (thank you to the sleuths that got him access), Adam met with a Boston jeweler to design the ring. While at this point it was unsure how he'd pop the question, Adam knew for certain that he wanted to spend his life with Sam. Inspired by their love for game nights and many Rummy 500 tournaments, Adam created a proposal plan that best suited them. The two went to a family cabin for their anniversary weekend. The first morning there, while Sam was sleeping, Adam snuck outside to call Sam's father for his blessing. Then, before Sam could even have her morning coffee, Adam nervously asked "do you want to exchange anniversary gifts?". They sat on the couch and Adam handed her a deck of cards. On the front of each card, Adam had written a different reason why he loves Sam. Sam sat on the couch reading each one out loud, laughing and crying at the reasons he came up with (i.e. "You love cheese as much as I do"). After getting through the deck, Adam explained that there was a second part of the gift. He took just the hearts out of the deck, handed them to Sam and told her to flip each one face down. 'W'...'I'...'L'...'L'... until it spelled out "will u marry me?". Adam got down on one knee and through the tears Sam immediately said "yes!".
