Flight
RDU is the best airport to fly into for our wedding because it's so close to everything. You could fly into Charlotte (3 hrs away), but we've found that flight prices and routes don't differ much between the two. If you can swing it, we've found that flying on Halloween (Thurs, Oct 31) is much cheaper and less busy.
Hotel
We are not blocking off hotel rooms, so guests are on your own for finding lodging. Durham and Chapel Hill might be tempting, but trust us -- you'll want to stay in Raleigh. It has far more going on than those other two losers and you'll be closer to all the activities we have planned throughout the weekend. There are plenty of hotels, Airbnbs, and VRBOs throughout the city and on the outskirts, but for the best cultural and gastronomic experience, we recommend staying right in the center. You might want to avoid staying near NC State, though.
Rental Car
Whenever we travel, we use Turo, which is esentially Airbnb for cars. Unfortunately, the Raleigh-Durham area is very car dependent. You won't find public transit or bike lanes here. It's honestly our only real gripe with the place. But if you choose lodging downtown, you'll be able to walk to bars, restaurants, and museums, and might be able to get away with Ubering/Lyfting everywhere else.
Travel Note
Most of our guests are coming from out of state. Hell, most of our guests are coming from outside the Southeast. So we know traveling to Raleigh for our wedding is a big deal and big expense for many of you. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you're concerned about cost and want guidance. We would love to do a little friendship matchmaking by pairing you with other guests so you can split lodging and transportation costs.
