On the day Sam and Riley met, it was probably raining and frisbees were most definitely involved. Sam was a sophomore majoring in international political economy and Riley was a freshmen majoring in biochemistry. She was from Oregon. He was from Colorado. Somehow, they ended up on the same quad, tossing the same frisbee, going to the same parties, and making the same friends at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, WA. She became the women's frisbee captain. He became the men's frisbee captain. From spring break trips to afternoons rock climbing, Sam and Riley built a friendship in those first two years of knowing each other. And then something changed at the start of Sam's senior year. Their friendship turned into a slow-simmering situationship until it soon came time to go all in or go back to being "just friends." They soon shared their first kiss on the back steps of Sam's college house, exchanged their first "I love yous" in a cabin in the Columbia gorge, moved in together to a janky converted garage behind Riley's college house, and stayed together while Riley finished his senior year. Their life together has taken them across the country three times to eleven addresses in five states. They've made pasta in Italy, drank tea in England, eaten mucho tacos in Mexico, snorkled in Hawaii, trekked through the Narrows in Zion NP, camped in South Dakota in January, lived through a pandemic in Boston, adopted a cat from a box, been trapped in Canada, and, most recently, bought a house in North Carolina. All of their (mis)adventures have led them to another big moment in their lives together. One they can't wait to share with you. Almost exactly 10 years to the day they'll get married, Sam and Riley became more than friends. It was probably raining then, but we're keeping our fingers and toes crossed it doesn't rain on the wedding day. Bring your frisbees and party vibes. It's gonna be a banger. Rain or shine.
