How We Met

September 2nd, 2016

Our story begins in Tallahassee, Florida. Salvador (affectionally known as Cha) and Hannah met at the beginning of their final respective years at Florida State University. As he was finishing his PhD and she was almost done with her bachelors, it was a stroke of luck that Salvador happened to be Hannah's instructor for an Exercise Testing and Prescription laboratory section. Throughout the semester, they remained entirely platonic as Hannah was being bothersome— emailing and asking too many questions, and Salvador was less than patient, making it clear he tolerated but did not enjoy the amount of enthusiasm one scrunchie-wearing sorority girl had for asking questions. The semester flew by, and just before the two went their separate ways for the winter break, Salvador and Hannah happened to run into each other at a local watering hole, where one Hannah Wherry, undefeated in her efforts of befriending people, informed one Salvador Jaime that he should mentally fortify himself to become her newest friend when she returned to Tallahassee. A little over a month later, Salvador received an email with a friendship application attached. In the months that followed, the two got to know each other through rock climbing, blues club adventures, basketball games, and one very long, up-hill 5k. Despite the fact that Hannah was leaving to travel in the months following her graduation, and Salvador finishing the long road of a doctoral student, leaving for Wisconsin as a "baby doc"; they decided to begin a relationship and overcome the obstacles of long-distance.

How He Asked

December 31st, 2018

Last year, Salvador came down to spend Christmas with Hannah's family. Unbeknownst to her, he talked to all four of her sisters, in addition to asking both her parents if he could marry her. He was met with resounding approval and even a cry of "ahhhh we finally have a brother!". As it was an action-packed break, the pair flew out to Portland, OR to spend New Year's with Salvador's family. In celebration of the new year, the Jaime clan threw a festive party, with the house filling up with friends and family alike. As the clock neared midnight, Salvador gathered everyone around and thanked his family for being so kind to a still very clueless Hannah, and then, much to her surprise, got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. One shocked gasp and a spirited "YESSSSS" shout later, and Salvador and Hannah were officially engaged.
