A bit about the town, how to get there and where to stay.

Travel Note

Why Sayulita?

This vibrant, small surf town full of street art, phenomenal tacos and great mix of relaxation and nightlife felt like the perfect setting for our wedding. We hope you will enjoy walking around the cobblestone streets, exploring the boutiques and finding your favorite margarita spot. A few tips to help you: - Sayulita is small, with everything within a 10-15 min walk. There are some good hills as you get away from the beach, so if you don't fancy getting a quad workout, you can rent a golf cart to get yourself around town. - Bring pesos! The town is mostly cash based, although a few restaurants take Visa & Mastercard. We recommend pulling out cash as you exit the arrivals terminal in PVR (just decline the offered exchange rate as it is often terrible. It will still exchange your currency at the current market rate). - Sayulita is slow to get going in the morning, with shops opening at 11am or so. While it's slow to start, expect a party, with bars kicking on until 3-4am. - While Sayulita is overall very safe, don't leave your belongings unattended on the beach etc - Food & Water safety: While overall Mexico is taking strides in improving hygiene, we advise that you drink bottled water only and use it to brush your teeth with etc. Ice is usually always made from filtered water, so sip on ice-cold cocktails from bars & restaurants worry-free. Food safety is also pretty good, but make sure to wash and sanitize your hands often.

Getting to Sayulita

Sayulita is 24 miles (40km) north of Puerto Vallarta airport, and approximately a 45-60 minute drive. Options: Private shuttle: $175-$250 USD return (1-10 pax) Sayulita Suburban and Van Services Uber: $35-40USD each way To get an Uber from Puerto Vallarta Airport (PVR) to Sayulita, you'll need to walk across the pedestrian bridge to the other side of the road, where Uber drivers are allowed to pick up passengers. Ubers are not allowed to pick up at the airport terminal itself. The walk to the bridge is short, and it's a standard practice for getting an Uber from PVR. Uber isn’t a thing in Sayulita so ask your driver if they don’t mind coming back to get you.
