For many years we’ve been asked: "So when are you finally getting married?!" After 8 years the timing is just right, and here's why: When we met, we had a lot of growing up to do. We made mistakes daily, and generally went about things the wrong way most of the time. Getting to where we are now hasn't been easy, but love isn't easy, it takes work. You learn to make a constant effort to be mindful and supportive, while balancing how to communicate your own needs and maintain your individuality. You start to see the forest for the trees, and let petty disturbances roll off your back. When problems do arise, you approach them as a team. You learn that some people are better at cooking bacon than others, and in no way does it make you less of a man, probably. ...And that's not even the tip of the iceberg. Sure, lots of stuff we learned on our own through trial and error; but a good portion of it was gained from spending time with you. That's not a typo -- the experience, wisdom and perspective we gain from our loved ones is invaluable to our relationship. So we guess what we're saying is, thanks. We fully and happily acknowledge the role each and every one of you has played in our lives. Without the support of our friends and family, we wouldn't be half the people we are today, and we'd like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your patience, kindness, and generosity. When we make a decision, we're sure of it. So know that if you type your name into the RSVP and it lets you in, it's because you matter.
