Located in the Ohio River, Blennerhassett Island has a Palladian mansion that is accessible via a sternwheel ride aboard the Island Belle. Marietta is thrilled to welcome the historic LST-325 Memorial Landing Ship, which will be docked at the Levee from September 12th through September 15th. This incredible piece of our nation's history will be open for tours daily from 9 AM to 5 PM, with the last tour starting at 4:59 PM. The excitement in the community is palpable as residents and visitors alike eagerly anticipate the opportunity to step aboard this legendary vessel. The visit of the LST-325 offers a unique chance to experience firsthand the storied past of these remarkable ships. The crew of dedicated volunteers is ready to share the rich history of the Landing Ship Tanks (LSTs), which played a crucial role in World War II, the Korean War, and later in Vietnam. Through their engaging stories and detailed knowledge, visitors will gain a deeper appreciation for the men and women who built these ships and those who bravely served on them.
This walking tour of downtown Parkersburg and the Julia-Ann Historic District provides a glimpse of Parkersburg past and present. The list will give information on which buildings are not open to the public.
Named for West Virginia's first governor, Fort Boreman offers elevated views of area rivers and the Parkersburg/Belpre region. Beautiful for walking and pictures! This is the site of an old Civil War fort, and is on the National Register of Historic Places since 2003.

Learn about the history of the oil & gas industry in our region, starting with General George Washington in the late 1700's. The museum is open daily and has a wealth of information and exhibits to view as well as some demos and presentations.
One of the last plantations left in the state, Henderson Hall is a 29-room Italianate mansion that was built in 1836. It has been preserved and is available for tours. The grounds include Adena pre-historic Indian mounds, a more than 100-year old still, and what is believed to be the oldest schoolhouse in the state. Henderson Hall and its grounds are on the National Registry of Historic Places.
Visit the Parkersburg Art Center and view their current exhibits. The highlight exhibit during the wedding weekend is Hanging by a Thread, showcasing needlework made of threads from Kreinik Manufacturing Company. Kreinik entered the thread industry in the 1970s in Parkersburg, and has become a worldwide used material in a variety of industries, including the costumes in Game of Thrones!
