We met through Texas Taekwondo at the University of Texas Austin during our first year there. Our circle of friends in the organization became quite close and we had always liked each other. We were friends for years before Sadie asked Daniel out in her senior year. Because we had been friends for so long, Daniel didn't immediately grasp that Sadie was asking him out. It was a fun date though and we transitioned easily from a friendship to something deeper without even realizing it.
Daniel planned a trip to Berlin with Sadie. Sadie had been several times and said that he'd love the city, so he decided it was a great place to propose. The plan was to propose next to the lake at Café am Neuen See in the Tiergarten (the giant central park of Berlin). When they arrived, Sadie had already been teasing Daniel about proposing for months which had Daniel on edge for the day. As they slowly walked through the garden together Sadie casually made a joke that Daniel should propose, which did not help matters. As they arrived to the destination, they purchased a beer each and sat at the spot Daniel had in mind. But, as he waited for the right moment Sadie decided *again* to tease Daniel about proposing. At this point Daniel wanted to throw the ring into the lake in front of them, and proceeded to ask Sadie if she'd like to rent a small boat into the lake (about 40 feet from where they were). Once out into the middle of the lake Daniel proceeded to propose to Sadie who, despite having teased him about it all day, was completely caught off guard.
