How we met

Losing a passport isn't that bad!

In late April, 2014 in Kathmandu, Nepal, Charles and Sadie were independent travellers meeting for the first time in a dormitory at Alobar1000. Charles, a sleeping target for theft, had been pick pocketed on a bus and was stranded in Nepal without a passport. Despite all his efforts navigating the bureaucracy of Nepal, he had become a fixture of the country awaiting a replacement. Sadie was intrigued by Charles, he was a strange, hyper, intelligent and adventurous man. He was known for leaping out of windows, climbing trees, his role as a Bollywood extra and his poor Nepali. Their first date was an impromptu trip to a tattoo studio where Sadie had her septum pierced, then the two went to an expat fundraiser, where they developed outlandish back stories about the other guests. A few weeks later, Sadie's cousin Kyla and friend MC joined her for a 21 day trek around the Annapurna mountains. Although Charles had already completed the exact same hike earlier that year, he made a phoney excuse about seeing some lake again and joined the trio. It was pretty clear what he wanted was Sadie's company. Sadie's vibrant nature, her larger than life excitement and no nonsense personality drew him in. She had a funky style, a crazy haircut and a disarming smile which attracted him even more. Fortunately, all of these things, save the crazy hair, remain true today. While they had all anticipated a bit of exercise and some mountain views, no one expected a life long love connection to be forged. Four and some years later, on another hike in Mexico, Charles proposed as a volcano erupted nearby. Neither nomads expected to find love so far from home. If something hadn't gone missing, their love would never have been found.
