In Miami, when people find out Danny is from Colorado, people always seem a little confused, and a common follow up question is, "What are you doing here?" The answer to this question has evolved over the past 6 years. First it was for work and then because he found it to be a lively place with friendly and interesting people. However, the real reason why Danny stayed in Miami is because of a lovely woman he met in 2016. Her name is Sabrina. Sabrina was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela. Her parents are Raul and Matilde and she has a younger brother, Raul. In 2009, her family moved to South Florida and today her extended family is spread out between Spain, Venezuela, Florida, Texas & Massachusetts. Sabrina's family maintains a strong bond despite the distances between them and have lovingly welcomed Danny. Danny was born and raised in Colorado, USA. His parents are Stephen and Adele and he has a younger sister, Frannie. His family is spread out mostly between New Jersey, Michigan, Colorado, Kansas, Delaware and Florida. Danny was lucky to have grown up visiting these places and his family, as they were very influential to who he is today.
Even though Danny and Sabrina first met in 2016, they did not start dating until 2019. First, they started out as co-workers at Univision, working in media and video journalism. They were friendly with one-another at the office, bonding over lunch. Eventually they started going to a rock climbing gym together, where they became close friends and they began developing feelings for each other, but Danny didn't have any interest in dating a coworker and they both did a good job hiding their feelings. At the time, it felt unlikely for them to become something more than just friends. However, in the spring of 2018, they took a trip to Chattanooga, Tennessee, to go rock climbing. During that trip, they really bonded – and even though they were still in the "friend zone", it felt romantic.
Later that year, after they both had been laid off from Univision, Sabrina and Danny went to their local climbing gym as usual. That day, Sabrina told Danny, "I started dating someone." Without thinking, Danny responded, "I knew I should have asked you out when I had the chance". This was the first time Danny had let Sabrina know that he liked her as more than just friends. Fast forward a few months, and by January 2019, Sabrina was no longer in a relationship and found the courage to ask Danny out on a date. From that point on, they were inseparable. And always being able to maintain the foundation of their relationship: their friendship. In February 2020, Danny moved into Sabrina's condo in North Miami; a month later, they went into lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Turns out, what could have been a challenge for their relationship, was one of the best things that happened to them. It made them realize how deeply they enjoyed spending time with one another and how much they loved each other. Through their years together, Danny has spent a lot of time with Sabrina's family, improving his Spanish while enjoying delicious Venezuelan food and Sabrina has visited Danny's family in Colorado many times, getting to know and love the place where Danny grew up.
In the summer of 2022, Sabrina and Danny traveled to Spain to visit Sabrina's family and to go on a road trip together. One day, they visited a tower that overlooked the ocean and the city of San Sebastian, where Danny found the courage to ask Sabrina something he had already known for over a year: that he wanted to marry her and spend the rest of their lives together. Sabrina said yes. Today, Danny is a middle school history teacher and Sabrina works as a producer at an advertising agency. Some of the things they both enjoy doing together are going to the movies, watching baseball games, playing softball and beach paddleball, exploring the outdoors, going camping and, of course, their beloved pets: Salem the kitty and Cashew the doggie. They are excited to start the rest of their lives together surrounded by their friends and family and are looking forward to many more years of friendship, partnership and love.
