Most local shops and the seaside bluffs are accessible by walking or biking straight from the property, or a short drive. The Stornetta Lands South Trailhead is a long beautiful bluffs trail and is 1/3 of a mile from the property. Feel free to bring bikes, your kite, surf board, running shoes, an easel and brushes, whatever floats your boat! It's a beautiful area where you can do a lot just by hanging out locally. Please feel free to spend time on the property whether you are a camper or not. We will have a little hot drinks station set up in the barn, and there is a pond, fire pit, and picnic tables for you to enjoy. We want to see you!
Check out downtown Point Arena! Rollerville cafe for a cozy coffee, Franny's Cup & Saucer for a sweet treat (they are also doing our wedding desserts), and visit the Historic Point Arena Lighthouse. We also hope you get the chance to explore the seaside trails that traverse the bluffs, and the many hidden beaches you can access by car or foot or bike. There's drive in access to the Point Arena Lighthouse and Hearn Gulch, and check out the Stornetta Bluffs, Bowling Ball Beach (low tide) or Stoneboro Beach if you prefer to work a little to get there!
The oldest and largest festival held on the Mendocino Coast shares their celebration weekend with our wedding weekend! Go check out the lumberjack related events, activities, arts and crafts, as well as the cute town of Fort Bragg!
If you make it into Fort Bragg be sure to stop by the Noyo Marine Center! They have one location in downtown where you can learn about whales, the kelp forests and the Northern CA coastal environment. They have another location called the Crow's Nest located along the coastal trail system which you can walk, bike, or run to and see their tide pool aquarium. And make sure to tell Rylie if you go!
If you are keen to explore a little further afield, the historic town of Mendocino is a one hour drive north from Point Arena. The town was first founded in 1852 and built in a New England style unusual for the west coast at the time. We love the Café Beaujolais for their garden seating and delicious brick fired pizzas, as well as taking a freshwater dip into Big River which meets the ocean in town.
