From Second Grade to Second Chances

A poem for you.

It all began in second grade, The year was 2004 That's when Lexie met Ryley, “I’m gonna marry him!” she swore. Two years later, at a 4-H Lock-In, Ryley asked Lexie to dance. The rest is history! you say? Nope, Not a chance! All drama in fifth grade, Ignored the other in the sixth, Jr. high was a mess, But we hung out (just for kicks.) From recess break-ups to a few thousand miles Distance almost prevailed. But during the Summer of 2014 A new future was unveiled. Three whirlwind years Full of adventure and fun Come to find out, the journey had only just begun. On May 12th of 2017, Ryley made quite a scene! Gave Lexie a beautiful ring! All shiny and clean. So June 30th We celebrated our engagement with you. Stick around for September 2018 To hear us say “I DO.” -Lexie Colon

The Proposal

If you haven't heard this story, it's worth the read!

For our three year anniversary, Ryley had scheduled a trip to Chicago. Dave Ramsey (financial advisor) was holding a Money & Marriage event in the area. The church would be expecting a crowd of about 2,000. Ryley and I looked at rings a while ago, we both knew a proposal was coming. Ryley got a call from the jeweler that they would be discontinuing the collection of rings so Ryley made the purchase. Now, how to ask the question?? A couple months before the Marriage & Money event he sent an email to the coordinator asking for help. They responded (with a yes) THREE DAYS BEFORE THE EVENT. Not like Ryley wasn't already nervous. During this event, they play some games with couples who volunteer. Ask questions (how long have you been together) and give away prizes. I actually turned to Ryley and said, "Please don't volunteer us, I don't want to have to tell these 2,000 people that I'm at a marriage event and not married." Next game, they announced our names to go on stage. I was stunned. Little did I know that it was walking off the stage with the best prize, a fiance!
