We recommend arriving in Florence by the evening of April 6, 2026. This gives you time to adjust to the time zone, enjoy Florence, and be ready for the group shuttle to the venue on the morning of April 7.
Florence (FLR) is the closest airport, but often requires a layover in Europe. Rome (FCO) offers more frequent flights from Canada and is about 1.5–2 hours by train to Florence. Either option works—just make sure you’re in Florence by April 6.
Yes! We will have a group shuttle on April 7 from Florence to Abbadia Sicille Relais, and a return shuttle on April 9 back to Florence. The meeting point and exact times will be shared closer to the date.
We will be able to host our immediate family and wedding party at the venue itself, and all other guests will be staying at the venue's sister hotel which is a 10 minute drive from the wedding venue. Booking these accommodations will be done individually by the guests and a shuttle will be provided to bring guests who are staying at the sister hotel to and from the venue. More details regarding booking these accommodations will be provided at a later date.
Our wedding celebrations from April 7-9 will all be adults only. We understand that a big trip away from the kiddos can be a lot to ask, so if you are wanting to attend the wedding but also take your family on a trip, we suggest bringing along someone who can look after your children and stay with them in Florence for the nights of April 7 and 8 (we recommend they stay in Florence as opposed to near the venue as the venue is countryside and there are not many activities to do in the area). If you would feel more comfortable having your children stay near the venue with you, please be aware that an additional room booking may be required and you will be in charge of arranging for excursions in the area. Though this trip could also be a great excuse for a parents getaway! That being said, we understand these may not be feasible options for everyone and respect the choice to not attend if that is the case.
You can find all our recommendations under the Dress Code tab along the top of the webpage.
Flying within Europe is fairly affordable (especially when you compare to flying within Canada) and there are many budget airlines offering several flights every day. There are also great options for taking the train between cities that are cheap and affordable. You can also consider renting a car if you are interested in seeing some countryside Europe between destinations.
Expect mild spring weather—typically 15–22°C. Days are often sunny but evenings can be cool, and there’s a chance of light rain. Layers and a light jacket are recommended.
Layers for changing temperatures Comfortable walking shoes for cobblestones A formal outfit for the wedding Sunglasses, sunscreen, and a small umbrella European power adapter (Type C or L)
We would recommend it — travel insurance can cover unexpected flight changes, lost luggage, and medical needs while abroad.
Most Canadian carriers offer international plans, but you can also get a local eSIM or SIM card for data. Wi-Fi is available in hotels and many public spaces.
Italy uses the Euro (€). Credit cards are widely accepted, but it’s good to carry some cash for small cafés or local markets.
Absolutely! Many guests are visiting other parts of Italy and nearby countries before and/or after the wedding. You can find some of our recommendations under the Travel tab!
Your presence is present enough, seriously! To have you at our wedding is the most generous gift you can give. We are kindly declining all physical gifts (we also have no way of travelling with gifts). If you do feel so inclined, we will accept cash or e-transfers.
