Take a boat ride to the only island in Slovenia! Enjoy a cup of coffee with a view at Kavarna Cafe, where the boats depart hourly. On the island, you can explore the famous landmark, Church of the Mother of God on the Lake, a Gothic church with a 52-meter tower. Take a tour of Church of the Mother of God on the Lake, a Catholic Church located on the only island in Slovenia. Climb the bell tower and enjoy the views of Bled and the Julian Alps. Don’t forget the ring the wishing bell and make a wish; legend has it you’ll be blessed with good luck. Fun fact: Before the church was built on the island, a temple dedicated to the pagan goddess of life and fertility stood at the same place. Perched atop a cliff towering 130 meters above Lake Bled, Bled Castle has a 1000-year history that invites visitors to explore its museums and enjoy activities closely linked to the castle’s traditions. Lake Bled is a glacial lake and the only lake in Slovenia with an island. The path around the lake is one of the most popular walks at 6 km long. You can start the path around the lake at any point. The path is well maintained and will take you onto a paved road, gravel walking path and a short boardwalk just above the water level. There are plenty of benches along the path where you can sit down, relax and take in the natural beauty.
