Elsah is Libby's hometown. It is very small, but hopefully you'll feel like you're home too. Take a walk to the park, or along the wetlands trail. The entire village is on the national historic registry, so admire the pre-civil war era houses. If it's open, the Village of Elsah Museum gives a lovely overview of the history of the village and the area.

TreeHouse Wildlife Center is a non-profit, established in 1979, dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of wildlife while promoting environmental awareness through education. Great place to go and see all the rescued wildlife. Many animals cannot be released back into the wild for various reasons.
The Nature Institute (TNI) is a wonderful place for hiking, enjoying views of the Mississippi River, and learning about some of Illinois' native and endangered species. Visit this UNESCO World Heritage site, the largest pre-Columbian earthworks site north of Mexico. The visitor center is a great place to start, full of information and exhibits about the native people of Illinois. Take a hike to the top of Monks Mound for views of the Arch and the surrounding area.
If this is your first time to the area, please stop and visit the Gateway Arch. Located on the Mississippi River in St. Louis (about 45 minutes downriver from Elsah). Purchase tickets to ride to the top for some of the tallest views in St. Louis.
