♡ Our Story ♡

In July 2022, Jess and Ryan were nothing more than strangers thrown together by chance—well, perhaps not pure chance, but the result of a very confident and well-accredited hitchhiker who needed a lift for the ultimate adventure of a lifetime. Jess was there for fun, spontaneity, and the thrill of the unknown. Ryan, on the other hand, had planned his trip like a military operation—GPS approved, itinerary printed, and expectations set for a peaceful, orderly journey. Their paths would’ve crossed eventually… just not in the wonderfully chaotic way they did. At first, they were an undeniably odd pair. Jess was loud, outgoing, talkative, and happiest under the blazing sun. Ryan was quiet, spoke only when necessary, a devoted car guru, and had a deep appreciation for the cold. This contrast was hilariously obvious during the trip: Jess stepped out of the car on a 27-degree day bundled in a puffer jacket, while Ryan wore shorts and a T-shirt—sweating even after sitting in an 18-degree air-conditioned car. That is, until the aircon unit broke and all negotiations over temperature became pointless. But somewhere between the mismatched thermometers, the quiet drives, and the shared 30-litre snack tub, something unexpectedly sweet began to grow. They discovered they laughed at the same silly things. They both loved the quiet, golden moments—watching the sun melt into the horizon as they drove toward the next campsite. They shared a passion for photography and nature, wandering through the vast, open paddocks of outback Australia with cameras in hand and adventure in their hearts. The turning point came one night out in the desert. They set out to photograph the Milky Way, lying side by side in the cool sand, staring up at a sky overflowing with stars. They talked and laughed like they had known each other their whole lives. Jess taught Ryan how to open up, and Ryan showed Jess the beauty of slowing down and truly savoring an adventure. By the end of the trip, they were no longer “Ryan and the hitchhiker.” They were two people who found comfort, calm, and connection in each other—two hearts that had unintentionally found a home. What started as a spontaneous road trip blossomed into a beautiful love story. When they returned, Jess came down with COVID, making isolating at Ryan’s place the logical choice while they unpacked the car and slowly adjusted back to normal life. After a week, she went home… but only technically. Three months later, Ryan asked her to officially move in—since she basically never left anyway. Three magical years followed, full of laughter, weekends away, and trips across Australia—each one another chapter in their growing love story. And then, on their anniversary at Dubbo Zoo, Ryan proposed. Jess was so shocked she cried, nodded, and wordlessly stared at him for twenty minutes (Ryan claims it was longer) before she finally managed to say yes. Two lives stitched together by destiny, laughter, and a dusty outback road have now led to this wonderful wedding. Their love story didn’t just begin on that trip—it bloomed there, and it’s still blooming today, and will continue to for many years to come.
