Our Story

Love is really not all sunshine and rainbows. Love sometimes disguises itself as months of long-distance, video calls, Netflix watch-parties and many difficult and emotional goodbyes. The soon-to-be weds have developed their relationship into something that practices loyalty, great friendship and consistency. Delphine's unwavering support and dedication to their relationship has rewarded her with not only the commitment and love of Ryan but also a good few stamps in her passport. In this entire process, the love between Ryan & Delphine has grown immensely. They have learnt to connect on a deeper level and have shared many beautiful moments throughout this long-distance relationship. The intimacy between them has developed very gracefully and they look forward to not only creating memories side by side but never having to say goodbye at an airport again. Have a look at the journey from the start.

Let’s set the record straight, R slid into D’s DMs in July 2021. After a year of flirting over text and video calls, Ryan took a leap & jumped on a train for a weekend in Ostend in September 2022.

For the next three months, R & D visited each other whenever they could between Ostend & Almere. D even learned that R was in fact allergic to cats and not just faking it.

R had to leave Europe to go play two World Cups (indoor & outdoor), so D didn’t only start to catch feelings, but now also flights. After only 4 months of dating, D met the whole family all at once.

After being thrown into the deep end, R & D had a blast for 3 weeks in CPT and things became serious. R, very traditionally, officially asked D to be his girlfriend (while she thought she already was)

Six months & a couple of declined Schengen Visa’s later, R & D met in the middle & that lead them to Zanzibar for a magical week in the sun, exploring the island and truly enjoying being together.

Four months later and still no luck with getting R into Europe, the video calls & voice notes weren’t enough, so D jumped on another flight in September for some quality time with R & his family.

Was it the sun, R or his family that lured D to CPT again, who knows? This time however, her life would forever be changed. R's knee buckled and D left with a heavy heart & even heavier hand.

This time it was the wedding planning that brought D back. Fifth time taking a long-haul flight in a year. The love must be real. The couple almost gave Pastor G a heart attack with a surprise visit.

After 1,5 years, R finally made his way back into Europe for Nation’s Cup in Poland. So D fully embraced her WAG era by surprising him there for a visit & their handshake kept getting longer.

D's travels continued as she found herself pitchside supporting R at The Olympics. It turned out to be a family affair, which made it more special. Everyone finally met and gave their blessing.

In the final stretch, R & D had to get all the paperwork sorted for D's visa. She packed up her life, said her goodbyes & took the last (one-way) flight. They finally made it!
