Wedding Party

The Wedding Website of Shakari Carson and Ryan Powell

Kayla O'boyle

Matron of Honor

How we met: Our 4th grade teacher forced me to sit next to Kayla on my first day of school in North Carolina. She knew Kayla was the nicest kid in class and wanted me to have a good friend. Turns out Kayla was pissed she had to be sat next to the new kid. Most likely to: Overpack wedding decor and wedding items even though the venue handles literally all of it Favorite memory together: Stealing my old step dads quarters and ordering pizza delivery the whole summer until he realized he was missing a lot of change from his change jar Role on wedding day: Designated problem solver, and professional hype person

Andrew Powell

Groomsman

How we met: He was just sort of there when they brought me home from the hospital Most likely to: Actually know something about the wine we’ll be drinking. Favorite memory together: Watching Christmas Vacation every Sunday on our grandmother’s floor Role on Wedding Day: Well, I want to say party but I’m not sure you’re still up for that. So just do your best to party.

Katy Butterworth

Bridesmaid

How we met: Surviving the hellscape that was a Cracker Barrel Sunday morning shift Most likely to: Not know what to do with her free time on vacation away from her 2 children Favorite memory together: Losing zero weight after going to the gym 5 days out of the week and immediately after going to AMB to crush pitchers of IPAs. It's called a dirty bulk ok Role on wedding day: Voice of reason and emotional stability keeper

Kevin Fahy

Groomsman

How we met: Kevin told me 85% of my music was terrible and we’ve been arguing about it ever since. Most likely to: Get annoyed by some hot take I refuse to give up on. Could also be Andrew’s hot take. Favorite memory together: Meeting up in France and seeing arguably the worst James Bond movie in recent memory. Then doing actual fun things. Role on Wedding Day: Keep Tyler from talking about golf too much. Maybe do a little partying.

Concha Gonzalez

Bridesmaid

How we met: Concha didn't want to make work friends when we started working together at DCBH. So I invited her to the gym with me and like a feral cat she started showing up on her own around the same times I was there, because she didn't want to commit to going together. So I'd watch her workout from across the gym and text her "good jobs" Most likely to: Get to know people even better than the bride and groom do Favorite memory together: Watching some silly movie and Concha going "wow, it looks like that guy has just one ass"... me ".... doesn't everyone have just one ass?" and laughing so hard we probably woke Ryan up Role on wedding day: Source of unconditional support and love

Dakota Siler

Groomsman

How we met: I was drawing a bugelfish and singing wheels on the bus and Dakota thought that was pretty cool. Then we proceeded to bother our teachers for the next several years. Most likely to: Be well liked by literally everyone the first time they meet. Favorite memory together: Rambling around in various parking lots and grocery stores. Then getting pulled over in our shopping cart at a drive through because “you can’t do that”. Role on Wedding Day: Actually get some sleep for once. And also do a weird dance at some point. Oh and don’t forget to party.

Savana Zwiefelhofer

Bridesmaid

How we met: Savana popped into my office one day and asked if Ryan and I wanted to hang out with her and her husband (also named Ryan). After getting to know her I realize now that she must have been building up her vibe check on me and really liked me, because she does not love when other co workers now ask her to hangout. Most likely to: Out-dress everyone daily Favorite memory together: Watching Savana laugh in both humor and shock after I fell off my paddle board this winter into the freezing cold river during the Christmas paddle parade. And then watching her totally support my idea to continue to paddle up river to what I thought was the nearest exit, even though she knew that was completely the wrong idea. Role on wedding day: Timeline enforcer and chief of organization

Tyler Bean

Groomsman

How we met: Mutual friends brought us all together at their apartment. It was very chaotic and loud and I don’t really remember it. Must have been a really good time. Most likely to: Have a deep and meaningful conversation with someone. It will likely be random and unexpected. Favorite memory together: Any porch conversation we’ve ever had. There are too many to name one. (See “most likely to” for reference) Role on Wedding Day: Party. And also argue with Kevin so I don’t have to. Just make sure to party at the same time.
