Due to the pandemic plaguing our world, we have come to the decision that safety and happiness are our top two priorities. With this in mind, we have decided to celebrate our wedding with our families via a renewal of vows ceremony followed by a reception on MAY 29, 2021 in Winston-Salem, NC. We kindly ask that all those attending be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to this date. Please fill out the following RSVP form if you plan to attend: https://forms.gle/BbPfs46SAiK5dV438 We will look forward to seeing you in NC! Feel free to contact either of us with any questions or concerns. Stay happy, stay healthy! Lots of love, Sophia & Ryan
It was freshman year, and I was going up to what I thought was a small party with friends in a new friend dorm room. When I arrived, only the one freshman boy was there - weird. But before anything got too weird, out of nowhere (no knock or anything) a tall, blond, handsome man (Ryan) flings open the door and says, "Is anybody in here good with printers? Because mine is not working." Relieved to find an excuse to leave, I quickly stood up and shouted, "Oh, I'm great with computers and printers! I got you!" And out the door I ran! While this was far from the truth, I continued to pretend I truly understood printers and insisted that every button I pressed was for a very important reason (there were many buttons). Pretending to understand printers for the better part of a half an hour allowed time for us to chat and get to know each other a bit. I thought that might've been the last time I really would see or talk to Ryan, and I have never been so happy to have been so very wrong.
When I first decided I wanted to ask Sophia to marry me, I knew I had to make the proposal special, so I started planning months in advance. While figuring out the perfect way to pop the question, I decided I'd ask her on our trip to Hawaii, so I contacted some people I knew there, and I was able to reserve a spot for us to have dinner while watching the sun set over the ocean after she hopefully said yes. I organized for us to have our favorite meal along with bringing a $12 bottle of Cava (our celebration drink of choice). The people helping me organize this thought I was insane to plan all this and only get a $12 bottle for dinner, but I knew it was the bottle that Soph loved the most. I had this plan to get her to come with me to a beautiful field near the farm where I would pop the question under the pretense of using some of the extra tuna my bother caught to feed the farm cats they had up there. Naturally, I needed to make sure the cats would be there on the day of the proposal, so I showed up each day at the same time with tuna for two days prior to the proposal to make sure they would be expecting tuna on the day of the proposal - call me crazy, but it worked! While I was at it, I also timed the walk up to the farm multiple times and took the average to make sure we got there at the perfect moment. After all this planning, I thought I would be calm, cool, and collected on the day of the proposal; however, by all reports, I acted super strange the whole day. Fortunately, my normal behavior is strange enough that Soph never suspected a thing. That evening, I had my sister go up to the farm a bit early to hide in the bushes to get a picture of the event to share with Sophia’s family. When I finally got Sophia into the area where I planned to propose I heard, “Oooh look! Giant snails!” and she proceeded to run across the field collecting snails... I hadn’t planned for snails... Despite this, I still managed to ask, and I bet you can guess what she said!
