When you travel out of country right now, it's a good idea to make sure your passport is active for 6 months after your date of return home. If you're returning home on May 2, 2022, make sure your passport doesn't expire until November 2, 2022.
We chose not to create a registry for this event in part because we know that each of you is traveling a long way to be with us, and that despite getting a good deal on the room/food it is still not cheap. We are so appreciative that you all took vacation time and fit this trip into your budgets. That is a generous gift and we are so grateful. For anyone that insists on giving us a gift, we are trying to plan a honeymoon to the Greek Islands. We'd very much appreciate cash gifts that we can deposit into our honeymoon fund. We also appreciate advice on places to go in Santorini, Paros, and Tinos :-)
While the resort is all-inclusive, we recommend taking out a little bit of money in pesos or having US $1 bills available. I'd recommend taking out around $50/ day in pesos (1000 pesos/day) to cover tip for three meals, room service, and drink tips.
The prices at the resort include a modest tip, but a small additional tip is appreciated. Generally, for drinks, we'll just throw in our coins or include a few singles when we settle the tab. For food or meals or spa services, we'll tip an additional 10%. We also encourage guests to leave a little cash ($2 or so) for housekeeping each day.
Assuming your typical vaccines are up-to-date and that you have gotten the COVID-19 vaccine, you may not need to get any additional vaccines. We have found the food and water at the resort (in Cancun's hotel zone) to be safe for consumption, although bottled water is readily available, too. There are also almost no mosquitos near the resort. If you decide to travel outside of the hotel, you should be careful to only eat cooked fruits and vegetables, use bottled water, and liberally apply bug spray. And if you're going to take a day trip not arranged by the resort or travel throughout other parts of Mexico, the CDC recommends getting the following vaccines: Hepatitis A, Typhoid, and Cholera. If you will be going into the rainforest or expect to be in direct contact with animals (please, don't pet the iguanas that run around the resort), a rabies vaccine is also a good idea.
