James is a close friend of Alex's from childhood. James plays baseball, travels extensively, and is an excellent home chef. He lives near Aix-en-Provence, France.

Jen and Lauren became roommates and close friends while Lauren was in graduate school. Jen creates professional-looking crafts, loves cats, and is always ready for an adventure. Jen lives in Milford, CT.
Chris Revel

Chris is also a close friend of Alex's from childhood. He brews beer, can fix most anything, and bakes a delicious apple pie. Chris lives in Stamford, CT.

Erin is one of Lauren's first friends from graduate school and is a friend of Alex's through playing kickball together. Erin "gently encouraged" Lauren and Alex to start dating, so we owe much of our relationship to her. She's an incredible designer, sailor, and brilliant scientist. Erin lives in Brooklyn, NY.
Karen Ruth

Karen is Lauren's sister-in-law and Alex's closest ally. She's a trained actress, natural comedian, and loves cocktails and true-crime. Karen lives in Dallas, TX.
Margie Ratliff

Margie is a dear friend of Lauren's from undergraduate. They met Lauren's freshman year at Tulane in New Orleans and were also part of the same sorority. Margie loves a good costume party, German literature, and the cinema. She lives in Los Angeles, CA.
Jane Rushmore
Reader
Lauren and Alex met Jane and her husband Sean through a local potluck group, but they became friends when Jane and Sean invited Lauren and Alex to vacation on Block Island with them. As a group, they've since gone on many trips together. Jane is a natural host and quick to invite others to her gorgeous waterside home in Branford, CT for snacks and spritzers. She travels everywhere with a pitcher of sangria.
