It all started with a game of volleyball + a realization that we were both a lil nerdy. After a few group beach days and bonfires, Carey asked if he could take me out on a date. I tried to act nonchalant, but I was beside myself. The next day, we went to lunch and talked and talked and talked. After a few weeks of fun little outings, trying new recipes, watching hockey games, and challenging each other to "best out of seven" games of Speed, Carey found out he was being transferred to Sacramento. At first it felt so unfair. We had only just met! But we decided to change our perspective: we had met just in time. Long distance was no walk in the park, but we got creative with reading books out loud over facetime calls, me falling asleep a time or twelve on these facetime calls, sharing notes of our workouts, DoorDashing treats, New York Times games, and talking on the phone as much as humanly possible. Distance truly makes the heart grow fonder, and we couldn’t be happier or more thankful for each and every moment.
