2017 was the year my friend Mwape was going to say I do! And I was never going to miss the moment regardless of not being in a full-time job and not having the money to buy an air ticket to Zambia. I worked so hard and managed to save up the money. Unfortunately for me, the time we were booking our air tickets I didn’t know my Property Law in Practice exam would be a week after our scheduled flights. This meant that my family travelled a week before me and I had to rebook my flights. This was not only frustrating because I was going to travel alone, but It meant I had to change my flights tickets which costed me extra money and I also missed my friend’s kitchen party. Fortunately, Mwape’s (now husband) called his friend for a favour to give me a lift from Lusaka to Kitwe (wedding location). Bright kindly gave me a lift to Kitwe, the day I arrived in Lusaka. This was such a long drive about 7hours. Upon arriving to Kitwe, we exchanged numbers, just to be polite. And that’s what any polite Zambians would do after so hours together. Following that, Bright and I kept in touch and the rest is history…... I always thought I met my husband because my exam date was changed and it was going to be sad for me to travel alone all those longs hours, however, in 2018 after narrating the story to an old friend she changed the narrative of the story she said “you met your husband while supporting your friend” and I truly believe it’s true. Had I not planned to travel to Zambia to support my friend say I do, I would have never met my Bright! To all my beautiful squad travelling miles and miles to Zambia to support Bright and I, I hope something beautiful happen to you while there. It might not be meeting your other half for those who are still single, it could just be a realisation or unlocking your mind to something big. I know the sky is the limit when you are sewing the right seeds! I love you all massively. Thank you so much for everything. Enjoy Zambia, go get that tone!!!
It was in August 2017 when I synchronized my annual leave to the wedding event for my friend Petwe. I was in Western province then and was set to cover a distance of over 900km to be part of the big event. I was required to give Ruth a ride from Lusaka to Kitwe as she landed from the United kingdom. The journey to which was set for 3pm only actualised around 10pm because I didn't keep time. I met this beautiful and organized lady and my mind was focused. There was no going back. We had a long chat along the way and exchanged numbers. We've had bumps in the process which we worked out and it has been true love ever since.
