Perhaps the crowning jewel is the highest cascading waterfall in New York State – Kaaterskill Falls. Dropping in two tiers over 260 feet, Kaaterskill Falls has been one of the region's most popular destinations for centuries.
Howe Caverns is one of the most exciting NYS natural attractions. The cave tour consists of a 1.25 mile walk with a 0.25 mile boat ride. There are also 139 stairs throughout the cave tour. Katie spent summer camp exploring these caves multiple times!
The Ulster and Delaware Railroad Company (U&D) was a Class I railroad located in New York State, headquartered in Rondout and founded in 1866. It was often advertised as “The Only All-Rail Route To the Catskill Mountains.” A section of the railroad from Highmount to Roxbury was saved by the Catskill Revitalization Corp. Check it out at the Arkville Station for scenic rides!

Woodchuck Lodge, located at 1633 Burroughs Memorial Road in Roxbury, New York, is a registered National Historic Landmark. From 1910 to 1921, it was the summer home of John Burroughs, America’s most prominent and adored naturalist-essayist.
The landmark Round Barn, built around 1893, is one of the earliest entirely round barns in New York State – and one of the only ones still standing, in good condition, and actively used today. On the weekends it hosts farmers markets!
Gilboa Fossils, about 10 miles north of Roxbury, is perfect for anyone who has ever found fossils fascinating! At this fossil museum, you’ll step back around almost 400 million years. The site is a significant spot because it’s home to the world’s oldest forest remains.
