This cluster of museums includes: the New Mexico Heritage Arts Museum, the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture, the Santa Fe Botanical Garden, the Museum of International Folk Art, and the Wheelwright Museum of the American Indian. All within walking distance of one another!
This extensive network of trails is close to town, and is one of our favorite options for trail running, hiking, and mountain biking. Check out Picacho Peak and Atalaya for a classic strenuous local hike, or start at the Cerro Gordo Trailhead for a gentle walk over to the Randal Davey Audubon Center.
The Santa Fe farmers market is a fun opportunity to check out local produce, products, and great food. It's a bustling weekly event in the Railyard district, a fun part of town that we used to live in! This location has multiple coffee shops, breweries and stores within walking distance, so it's a great starting point for a morning of exploring.
Perhaps the biggest annual event in Santa Fe! Burn your woes with the effigy of Old Man Gloom... Takes place on 9/4/26.
Santa Fe is famous for its art scene, and Canyon Road is the hub for galleries. The street is perfect for a walk, with sculpture gardens and art displayed in all of the windows. Almost all of the galleries are walk in friendly, and there are a number of restaraunts and trinket shops along the way.
Another art market! Fiesta de Santa Fe is a long standing tradition among local people of Spanish heritage. A host of events are occurring throughout weekend.
The Plaza is at the heart of town, and has endless opportunities for things to see and do (more than we can list here!).
Bandelier National Monument is an amazing visit, with cliff dwellings that you can explore, as well as petroglyphs, and a variety of hiking trails. It's a 45 minute drive from Santa Fe but well worth the trip if you have the time!
We have tons of recommendations for those wanting get a little adventurous! Between the two of us we've hiked just about every trail within a 2 hour radius, climbed many rocks, and summited many peaks. We're happy to help find you the perfect route for your visit, just ask!
