We met on April 30th, 2022 at a little bar on the upper east side called The Jeffrey. One of us brought unwrapped cupcakes from a birthday party, and the other very skeptically ate them. I (Liz) was at a friend's birthday party. They had amazing cupcakes, so I thought I'd take some to go. When I met Russ at The Jeffrey, he seemed sweet enough, so I pulled the cupcakes out and offered to share. This was a bold move. My friends and I like to laugh and say that if Russ hadn't eaten those cupcakes, there might not have been a second date. Needless to say, I thought Russ was charming, hilarious, and kind. I liked that he laughed at my jokes, was up for anything (see: purse cupcakes), and had a soft, kind way about him. I (Russ) thought "who told this girl it was OK to store cupcakes in a purse without a ziploc bag? Is she trying to poison me? Do I choose love and eat them- at the risk of my own health, or do I choose to disappoint and not eat them- at the risk of losing out on love?" Sometimes in life you have to go all in, and those cupcakes were worth every bite. Nearly four years later we are choosing to go all in together and get married. Liz is beautiful, adventurous, sweet, and silly. I'm lucky to call her my best friend and soon to be wife. We dated long distance (Inwood to FiDi- literally over an hour commute) for about two years, and then moved into our apartment near Seaport. These days we love taking strolls in our neighborhood, trying out new bars and restaurants, catching a Knicks or Yankee game, going to comedy shows, and making each other laugh.
