The wedding will take place in Chilmark, which is considered 'Up-Island'. For those of you who have not yet been to Martha's Vineyard, the locals use the lingo ‘Up-Island’ and ‘Down-Island’. Technically it's a longitude/latitude, but basically when you hear Up-Island it means the western, more rural towns of West Tisbury, Chilmark and Aquinnah. Down-Island refers to the busy port towns of Vineyard Haven, Oak Bluffs and Edgartown. Accommodations: Staying closer to Up-Island is optimal, as it is closer to the festivities. However, any place on the island will be beautiful (just a longer commute.) For example, travel time via car or Uber from Down-Island to Chilmark/Up-Island can take up to 45 minutes depending on traffic.

The land bank is a rare breed. Neither a sanctuary program nor a park system, it is a middle ground where the highest virtues of conservation can be realized: public enjoyment of nature, where limits and restraint secure the natural world’s future and prosperity.
