“Birdwatching” at Buena

Come join us for the time honored Sandy Island tradition of birdwatching - code for cocktail hour when Sandy was officially a “dry” island. Dan’s parents, Barbara and Larry Koff, will be hosting at their cabin, Buena, which has been their Sandy Island home for over 35 years.
Welcome BBQ
6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Casual: Wear layers!
Let us welcome you to the island Sandy-style with a "rehearsal dinner" BBQ. In addition to plenty of food, we'll have beer, wine, and soft drinks. Arrive via the 2:30pm or 5:00pm boat from Harilla Landing, and guests staying off island can go back to the mainland on the 9pm boat after enjoying some s'mores by the bonfire.
Friday Night Bonfire and Bingo
7:30 pm
Friday night's activities include a bonfire, drinks, s'mores, tunes, and BINGO! Given that it's going to be a chilly evening, we're planning to hang with some hot drinks by the fire before retiring to the lodge for some BINGO and games...and yes - there will be prizes! Guests arriving on the late boat(s) are welcome to swing by or just settle into their cabin.

Kids Activities with Jack

The Sandy Program Director, Jack, will be leading kids' activities Saturday morning so they can get to know one another. Parents may drop their younglings, and/or hang around and see how they get along. Kids will be delivered back to the Dining Hall at noon for lunch.
Choose Your Own Adventure
10:00 am - 3:00 pm
Choose from any of the following at any time: bocce, shuffleboard, horseshoes, four square, basketball, volleyball, baseball, gaga ball, tetherball, soccer, tennis, disc golf (discs at the Lodge), swimming, kayaks, canoes, paddle boards, and naps. Don’t forget to visit the lodge loft for ping pong, foosball and board games!
Yoga
10:00 am - 11:00 am
Athleisure
Join our dear friend and trained yoga instructor, Karen, in the Lodge for some meditative stretching as we prepare our minds for the ceremony and our bodies to hit the dance floor later in the evening.
Lunch
12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
The bell will toll when the sandwich and salad bar opens. Guests staying off island can join by taking the 11am boat to Sandy and then enjoy the rest of the day's activities before the ceremony and reception.
Tie Dye at the Craft Shop
1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Casual (dark colors, jic)
Stop by the Craft Shop for the most popular of Sandy activities - tie dye! We'll provide a little something for everyone to customize. And you're welcome to bring an old t-shirt (or whatever else) to dye as well.
Our Ceremony
4:30 pm - 5:00 pm
Casual Cocktail Attire
Please choose footwear wisely as it is a five minute walk on uneven ground from the center of camp to the chapel. In case of rain, the ceremony will be held in the Lodge.
Cocktail Hour
5:00 pm - 6:30 pm
Enjoy the bites and some signature cocktails at the bar while you take in the sunset from the Lodge.
Reception Dinner
6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Dinner will be buffet style so you'll get to choose your entree.
Let's Dance
8:00 pm
Time to boogie...and possibly learn a couple Sandy line dances.
Late Night Dance Party
11:00 pm
Dance the night away to some serious house grooves from DJ Hush and a special guest.

Departure Boats

First boat back to the mainland will leave at 7am. Last boat leaves at 12pm. More schedule details to come.
