Things To Do

Depending on your dates and times of travel, you may find yourself with some time to explore the wonderful city of Florence. We love walking around, getting lost, and eating/drinking and taking in the sights. However, if you prefer to plan some tourist stops ahead of your travel or restaurant reservations - this page is for you!

Tourism - No Reservation Required

See the sights of Florence by foot! Please see below from some of our recommended spots to check out while you're here. The ones we plan to hit (outside only) on our walking tour are starred below: - Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore "Duomo"* - Basilica di Santa Croce di Firenze* - Piazza della Signoria - Basilica of Santa Maria Novella - Piazzale Michelangelo* - Ponte Vecchio - Piazza della Repubblica

Tourism - Tickets / Reservations Required

Please see below for a few museums that we recommend checking out if you have the time! - Le Gallerie degli Uffizi - Palazzo Pitti - Galleria dell'Accademia di Firenze (David) - Gucci Palazzo/Museo

Food - La Giostra

Borgo Pinti, 10/18R, Firenze, FI 50121, Italy

A classic hotspot for visiting parents of study abroad students. Cash-only and definitely need to book a reservation in advance. Menu highlights are their "Ravioli fatti a mano con Pecorino di fossa e Pere Williams" (Ravioli with Pecorino & Pear) and "Bistecca alla Fiorentina" (Florentine T-Bone Steak).

Food - Il Barretto

Via del Parione, 50, Firenze, FI 50123, Italy

We had a great meal in this cozy restaurant when we visited Florence in December 2023. Menu highlights here are the "Parmigiana di Melanzane secondo la Tradizione" (Eggplant Parmesan), "Taglierini al Tartufo Nero" (Truffle Pasta), and the "Souffle Caldo al Cioccolato" (Chocolate Souffle). Reservation definitely needed!

Food - Antico Noe

Volta di S. Piero, 6/R, Firenze, FI 50100, Italy

Spencer's favorite sandwich in Florence. Try the roast beef and ask for it with mushrooms, mayonnaise, and tomato, but be aware it is (very) rare. Or anything else on the menu... seriously it's all great. Antico Noe has a sit-down restaurant (which we've never been to), but friends have said it is very good. The sandwich spot, right next door, is our recommendation.

Food - Mesopotamia Kebab

Via dell' Oriuolo, 14r, Firenze, 50122, Italy

One of Spencer's favorite kebabs of all time. Doner style. Make sure you ask for it "con tutti", which means "with everything." Cheap eats and open late!

Food - All’Antico Vinaio

Via dei Neri, 65r, Firenze, FI 50122, Italy

It's hard not to recommend this tourist hot spot - it's worth the hype. Get whatever you like here. It is all top notch, but be prepared to wait in line!
