Things To Do

OUE Skyspace LA

633 West 5th Street, Los Angeles, CA 90071
, (213) 894-9000

If you want the beautiful view on top of the concrete jungle, get your tickets ahead of time to Skyspace. Experience the Skyslide, a 45-foot, fully enclosed, all-glass adventure landing on the exterior of the iconic US Bank Tower. Ride nearly 1,000 ft. above Downtown LA to experience the city from an entirely new perspective. Uncover a side of LA you didn’t know. See how Los Angeles is home to some of the most iconic films and TV shows, discover the many musicians and bands who started their careers in LA, and hear memorable stories from sports personalities that will impress any fan.

Santee Alley

Santee Alley, Los Angeles, CA 90015

A shopping experience unlike any other. One thing that Bri misses, is the shopping. The fashion district in Los Angeles offers an "Alley" of pop up shops. Thousands of fast-fashion wholesale vendors line the streets of the Los Angeles Fashion District. Fast-fashion vendors stock the most recent fashion trends straight from the catwalk. Keep in mind this is not a Bloomingdales shopping experience, but shopping for the open minded. The shopping row is 1.2 miles away from the Millenium Biltmore Hotel. I would suggest a Uber or Lyft to drop you off (tell them Santee Alley or the Shopping Alley in the fashion district) so you do not have to deal with the parking or navigating through downtown.

L.A. Live

800 Olympic Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90015
, (866) 548-3452

LA Live is an entertainment venue located in the heart of downtown Los Angeles. Adjacent to Staples Center, it is the home of Nokia Theatre, Regal Cinemas and various bars, hotels and restaurants such as the towering JW Marriott, WP24 and SBE's swanky Katsuya—jam-packed almost every night of the week (especially pre-Lakers, Clippers and Kings games) with tourists and locals alike.

The Broad

221 South Grand Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90012
, (213) 232-6250

One of the most popular new museums in Los Angeles. This gallery became popular because of its “instagramable” attractions like the mirror rooms, the big tulips, the America sign. It even has a larger than life-size table you can walk right underneath. It’s a free museum, but you do need tickets in advance and be prepared to wait about an hour if you don’t get a ticket in advance to get in.

Grand Central Market

317 South Broadway, Los Angeles, CA 90013
, (213) 624-2378

This is Downtown LA’s food court. It’s been there for decades with lots of unique restaurants coming in and out over the years. Now, it’s part of the foodie revival in LA with places like Eggslut, PBJ.LA, Wexler’s Deli and many others bringing people from all over Southern California to try a unique dish

The Last Bookstore

453 South Spring Street, Los Angeles, CA 90013
, (213) 488-0599

This old bank building was turned into a two-story bookstore which has an insane amount of books but has a lot of other cool things to see as well. Some of those are the book tunnel that you can walk through and the old bank vault which houses crime novels. It’s a good place to just walk around and take it all in. The Last Bookstore is California’s largest used and new book and record store and began in a Downtown LA loft. It has grown since then to 22,000 square feet and is housed in the grand atrium of what was once a bank

Arts District

Los Angeles, CA

The Art’s District is the up and coming downtown neighborhood that everybody wants to live at, and everyone else comes to eat at. The Art’s District has lots of artistic murals on all of the buildings, a bunch of crazy places to eat like Wurstkuche which has rattlesnake and rabbit sausages, breweries, ice cream, you name it they have it in the Art’s District. It’s an excellent place to just park, walk around and explore. Bring your appetite because there are lots you’re going to want to eat.

Perch

448 South Hill Street, Los Angeles, CA 90013
, (213) 802-1770

Perch is the best rooftop bar in downtown LA. Glamorous rooftop setting with French small plates and handcrafted cocktails.

Griffith Observatory

2800 East Observatory Road, Los Angeles, CA 90027
, (213) 473-0800

Griffith Observatory is an icon of Los Angeles, a national leader in public astronomy, a beloved civic gathering place, and one of southern California's most popular attractions. The Observatory is located on the southern slope of Mount Hollywood in Griffith Park, just above the Los Feliz neighborhood. It is 1,134 feet above sea level and is visible from many parts of the Los Angeles basin. The Observatory is the best vantage point for observing the world-famous Hollywood Sign. Griffith Observatory is free-admission and is a unique hybrid of public observatory, planetarium, and exhibition space. It is a free public telescope viewing and is available each evening when skies are clear and the building is open. More people (8 million) have looked through the Observatory’s Zeiss 12-inch refracting telescope than through any other on Earth.

Hollywood Sign

Los Angeles, CA 90068
, (323) 258-4338

The Hollywood Sign hike is one of those iconic hikes that you need to do at least once in your life. It’s a popular hike, but also beautiful. (actually, you end up right behind and above it), There’s a lot of conflicting information about where you can and cannot get into the hike. Use this trailhead address: 3200 Canyon Dr, Los Angeles, CA, 90068, USA. When you’re planning your Hollywood Sign hike, I’d recommend doing it as early as possible. Griffith Park is open 24 hours. Hike gets very crowded. There are a few routes to hike to the Hollywood Sign, and this is the shortest and easiest official one. If you Google directions to the Hollywood Sign, you will be routed to the main part of Griffith Park, which is nowhere near the Hollywood Sign. That’s because the Hollywood Sign Trust worked with Google and Garmin to override any directions, bringing you miles away to a Hollywood Sign “viewing platform.” These directions bring you to the actual trailhead that lets you hike to the sign.

The Wiltern

3790 Wilshire Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90010
, (213) 388-1400

One of Andrew and Bri's favorite music venues in LA.
