How we met

A Bumble success story

As told by Jordan. It was November 2016. I was sitting at the Dallas Love airport waiting on my next flight and decided to take a scroll through the world of Bumble and see what was possible in the big city. After a few non-memorable girls ran across my screen, my eyes saw this girl in a bright, red dress. I checked out her pictures and her profile that read something to the effect "I am sassy with good hair and a great body". Needless to say, I was hooked. I swiped right and waited for her to start the connection, to which she did... about 2 days later. Which would become the norm in our relationship from the beginning. I would say hi and ask how she was, and then a few days later, I would get a "Hi, good. How are you?" So I persevered and it eventually paid off. On Valentine's Day 2017, I was in The Bahamas and sent her a "Happy Valentine's Day" text message. Boy oh boy, did it pay off. That text pushed me over the top since I was the only one who did so in her arsenal of boys that were chasing her. About a week later on February 24, we had our first in-person date. We had a great time together and we began talking more and more. We had a few more dates and great phone conversations in between those dates. In this time, I moved to downtown Dallas from about 45 minutes away so I could "be closer to work." This sealed the deal and gave us the opportunity to see each other on a much more regular basis, which was my plan all along. On April 1, 2017 we were walking across the Ronald Kirk Pedestrian Bridge in Trinity Groves. After a whole day of hiking, eating, and talking, I went with my gut and asked her to be my girlfriend. And she hesitantly said "yes." It was the happiest day of my life. For 679 days. Until February 9, 2019 when I went with my gut and weeks of planning and asked her to be my wife. And she said "yes" without a hint of hesitation. We couldn't be happier for our journey and how it brought us to this place in our lives together. Life is a grand thing.

The Proposal

February 9, 2019

Kelsey and I were in Los Angeles for her work trip for a few days. I had been planning a proposal and had it just about nailed down, all I was missing was a location. After some research and talking with some locals who turned out to be our photographers, we decided on the Santa Monica pier at sunset. It was truly a perfect spot. We met a few days before and walked it out and found a few spots under the pier that would work with the lighting. Come the day of, we arrived to the pier with minutes to spare before “the perfect time.” We walked around the beach with the disguise that I wanted to take some photos of us on the beach, which wasn’t a complete lie. We made our way to the pier and walked under where the photography crew was set up and hiding. I got some “what are we doing” looks from Kelsey but I pushed on with the plan. When I felt it was time, I got on one knee and asked the most important and yet the easiest question I’ve ever asked. We both cried and she said yes. And it was done! I then introduced her to the couple who had captured our life changing moment and we proceeded to take some more photos and have some fun. After that was done, I had one more surprise in store. I had been talking with her Maid of Honor and best friend, Amanda, and she had flown in to LA to surprise her on the beach. She walked down and they met eyes and it was truly the perfect icing on the cake for Kelsey. We took some more photos and got a nice celebratory dinner and reflected on what had just happened. Before all this took place I had a bunch of friends and family send in a “congratulations” video to me to show Kelsey right after so we could feel like we were with our family and friends who have supported us along our journey. It was so cool. We are blessed. A link is below with those well-wishes put together and a little in the moment capture from our proposal. What a great day and an awesome memory we will keep forever!
