Flight
This is the cheapest airport to fly into, however if you want to fly into a closer airport and miss the chaos of LAX, there is the Hollywood Burbank Airport located 15 miles from Pasadena. Another option would be Ontario International Airport, but it's roughly 37 miles away from Pasadena.
