From study buddies quickly to best friends, Marisa and David met during medical school in the most unlikely of places, Peoria, Illinois. They spent many all nighters studying at local libraries and many "ghetto drives" seeing the sights of Peoria (or lack thereof) before they finally admitted their feelings for each other. It was a case of opposites attract, as her outgoing, "life of the party" nature paired well with his reserved, even-keel demeanor. She introduced him to the world of Bravo TV, and he introduced her to the world of Pokemon. He showed her the wonder (and endless crushing playoff disappointment) of being a Green Bay Packers fan, and she showed him that there's more to fashion than scrubs, sweatpants, socks, and flip flops. She introduced him to a world of flavor beyond salt and pepper, and he introduced her to the one ingredient that matters the most, sugar. Marisa and David began dating late in medical school and took the next step in their relationship by committing to each other for the long term, deciding to couples match for residency. They matched at University of Iowa and moved from one cornfield to another, relocating to Iowa City after graduating from medical school. Between her psychiatry training and his emergency medicine training, they have had any medical problem covered. Tougher than any problem they faced in the hospital, they managed to get engaged during their final year of residency while on a trip to Spain. Most recently, they traded cornfields for city lights, as they moved to Chicago for Marisa's fellowship in Child Psychiatry and for David's job with Northwestern Medicine.
