Our love for Jesus and music is what drew us together, initially. Once upon a time (aka 2016), Kristi and Christian first met while serving on the music team for church. One day, Kristi asks Christian for drum lessons, and Christian, being very wise, offered the Dutch girl FREE lessons. After a few lessons, the two made an arrangement to have dinner once a week as friends so Kristi could pay Christian back for the lessons. The dinners quickly turned from fast-styled food to faith-based debates and discussions. The many dinners led Kristi to ask Christian to meet her at her favorite bar, The Shep, for a drink on September 29, 2017. Christian decided this was the moment he would ask Kristi to be more than just friends and go on an official dinner date. After three days of internal and external processing and a lot of prayer, Kristi said yes to the first date, which took place on October 9, 2017. And now here we are, looking forward to getting married exactly three years later from our first date. The true story is how God was and is incredibly faithful to us as his individual children, and how we saw him grow our relationship over the past three years. God was able to work through our struggles, our victories, our plans, our fears, our failures, our passions, and allow us to imperfectly reflect the character of Jesus to each other. As our love for the Lord grew, our ability to forgive, to love, to encourage, to challenge, to respect, and to serve one another continues to grow. We are far from perfect, and we look forward to making the covenant before God and you all to partner with God in the work he is doing in our lives through love because of Christ’s perfect work on the cross.
